Our second anniversary. That's when he proposed.
We were figuring out what to do for our anniversary and he kept suggesting stuff in Atlanta. Going to the aquarium, or the botanic gardens, stuff that charges admission. I wanted to keep things cheap, simple, and with room to change our mind.
We ended up going to Athens and just wandering, hanging out. We'd pop in a few stores, grabbed lunch, enjoying the beautiful, mild day and each other's company. Then once we got out of the cookie shop, he started to get nervous and talk funny.
"So... Two years, huh?"
"Yep. And they've been wonderful."
"Kinda seems like we need a big life change to mark it."
"Well, we already agreed I'm not moving in for a while; not till I take care of that debt."
"I know. But..."
Then he fidgeted with his pocket and pulled out a small blue Lego box and handed it to me. I opened the lid as he sheepishly said "How 'bout it?" After a solid minute of me confirming that he wasn't joking, he got down on one knee and asked me properly.
Turns out all the ideas he had in Atlanta May have had elaborate proposal schemes associated with them. He said something afterward about a dolphin delivering the ring.
